Motivation-
-Drought conditions in Atlanta and most of the Southeastern U. S.
-Water war between down stream interests AL, FL, GA over Lake Lanier reservoir
-Governor Perdue conducts prayer ceremony on the GA capital steps
-Federal Judge rules that Atlanta’s use of Lake Lanier as drinking water source is illegal
-God helps those who help themselves
-To gain understanding of the implications and requirements of stealing water
-What are the complications of transporting water across an international border
-What unknown things might occur in the process of collecting, transporting and
possessing the water
Process (planned)
August 2009
-Drive to Canada crossing over at Sault St. Marie
-Identify source from which to obtain water (Unknown Source)
-Withdraw and process a small amount of water (5-20 gallons)
-Conceal water for return trip to Atlanta
-Cross back into U.S. at Sault St. Marie, drive to Atlanta
-Deposit water into Lake Lanier
Process (actual)
August 2009
-Drive to Canada crossing over at Sault St. Marie
-Identify source from which to obtain water (Serpent River System, Ontario)
-Withdraw and process a small amount of water (12 gallons)
-Conceal water for return trip to Atlanta
-Cross back into U.S. at Sault St. Marie, drive to Atlanta
-No action taken to release/use/deposit the water
Realizations
-The perceived value of the water increased due the amount of work, care and
process involved in getting it to Atlanta.
-If it is illegal to use the water from Lake Lanier as a source for Atlanta
it might not be appropriate to deposit the Canadian water there as initially planned.
Questions
-What do you think should be done with the water?
-Where should it be released?
-How might it best be used?
Results
